Problems With Cat Drinking Water? Why Does She Do This?

I rescued a wild kitty when she was about 4 weeks old. I have had her about 5 months now and she does something really strange when drinking water. She likes to drink out of the dogs bowl. She puts both front paws in the water bowl – in the water, then starts drinking and starts clawing the water out with one paw as she drinks. I end up with a big water puddle on the floor. Does anyone know why she does this and how to stop it? I am used to cats, who don’t like water, but she has no problem putting her paws deep in water.

We have a water tank thing that refills a tray when it gets low. The problem is, my cat loves to sit there and just fling the water everywhere. She used to do it to our dog’s waterer, but last night we bought one for her (she sleeps in an enclosed porch at night because she likes to chew stuff) and I come out and the tank is almost empty and the tray that holds her food and water is filled with water. I know it’s not an obsession with water because she is a screamer when we have to give her a bath.
Why does she have to make a mess out of her water?
