My dog, a rhodesian ridgeback, fell into the pool when she was just a puppy. Now she is afraid to swim. She will get right up to the edge but not jump in. We are taking her to maine in a week & we are staying near a lake. Is there anyway to get a dog to swim?

How Do I Stop My Dog From Digging In The Flower Pots?
July 13th, 2010 § 11
I am attemting to beautify my backyard this spring by planting flowers and some herbs in some pots, but my dog will not stop “helping” me. She has dug up three so far. She spends alot of time just hanging out outside without me, so I’m looking for any creative ways anyone has found to deter their dogs, without actually having to be there to correct them. Ive considered making a spot specifically for her to dig in, but I dont think that that will work. Anyone got any ideas?
A Dog With Congestion Problems?! Help
July 13th, 2010 § 1
we have got a 1 year old Black Labrador 2 months ago from a nice person that said they got the puppy a little early than they were supposed to (they didn’t know how old the pup was supposed to be at the time, until a week or two after) from the mother (about 3 days so it was 5 1/2 weeks old when they got him).
well my concern is.. every single time we give the dog a little bit of human food (not sickening food) or even Bones, he always ends up throwing it up, sometimes the pieces vomited were undissolved chunks of food or bone. we just thought he’d eventually get used to eating these kinds of food, but its been 2 months and still he throws up or makes different color soft or watery diarrhea
he can eat all brands of dog food and treats just no bones or human food.
SO..is his digestion problems from not getting the right amount of nutrition from its mother since it was separated at a early age.
we have taken him to the vet for check ups and they said he was perfectly fine, but not for this exact problem
WELL..even if this is not the cause..can someone just tell me how to solve the problem like some homemade medicine or something to help the dog’s stomach.
Thanks

How To Relieve Dog Allergy Problems?
July 13th, 2010 § 7
This is a pretty long answer. Dogs can have allergies to food, things in their environment, or fleas.
Make sure to use a monthly flea treatment like Advantage or Frontline Plus religiously. Feed a high quality food – my allergic dog eats California Natural which is formulated for allergic dogs.
Pay attention to things that might set off allergies – grass, plants, shampoos, etc. My dog is bathed every 2 weeks to a month to remove allergens from his coat.
Benadryl can be used to reduce symptoms – ask your vet what dose is right for your dog. And a vet can give short-term medications – usually steroids to break a bad attack.
If nothing works, you can look for a veterinary dermatologist. My friend found help for her dog this way when nothing else worked.
