Is this normal and common dog behavior considering that many dogs are always hungry and will eat almost anything? Or would you say that perhaps the dog always stealing food is probably not well fed or may be trying to show dominance?
For example..two dogs are being fed in one room and one usually eats faster and will try to eat food from the other’s bowl if the other dog walks away from the food for a bit.
I’ve never had a problem with any of my dogs because they know I wouldn’t tolerate it. I’ve got dogs eating side by side and the one who finishes first, stands back and wouldn’t think of stealing.
However, my son’s beagle is definitely a problem. I feed him in his crate so my dogs can eat in peace because he’ll take food practically out of the greyhounds’ mouths.
Bailey, my Akita/Labrador Mix that is an obsolute theif! He is constantly trying to steal food from Buddy, an American Eskimo Dog/Alaskan Malamute Mix.
yes. my pom tries to steal my mutts food. even while she is still eating it. thats why i supervise my dogs while they eat and dont free feed them.
