My simese cat has been living here for 7 years and is very pretective, we have just bought a 6 month old golden retriever. Tyler (the golden retriever) has no problem with my cat but my cat makes weird sounds when Tyler comes near him.

Don’t force them, it takes time. When I got my dog, my cat swatted at him constantly and now, 2 years later, they sleep togehter. The cat needs time to accept that the dog isn’t going to hurt him, hes scared.
I would say that the best you can hope for is for the cat to get used to the dog and ignore it. Train the dog to leave the cat alone, or he will get a lot of claw marks across his face!
Maybe your cat is scared? I mean dogs are quite a bit bigger even as pups.
It’ll take time. I took-in a feral kitten and he hated my dog. It has now been 5 months and she is warming up to my dog but is still wary. Just remember, you can’t force them to like each other…..it’ll just take time.
The weird sounds that the cat makes shows he was terrified,so please let the cat stays at a higher ground, if they two get familiar, they will just play. But my cat never likes my dog, he always spank my dog.
